I see a lot of ppl saying they don't understand X conservative position. How could anyone think X when Y, Z, etc, all exist!!
I'll clear it up. This is the logic conservatives use, for everything.

This is not a joke, or some flippant dismissal. This is a distillation of decades of personal observation, reading, and thinking.

So how do you reason people out of that?
Generally speaking you don't. You can't logic someone out of an illogical position. (this one applies to everyone, not just conservatives)

You have to get them in the emotions. Conservatives are scared of a lot of things, that's why they value control so highly.
Ideally you make them feel good about doing something positive. Convince them to donate to the homeless because it's something Jesus would do. idk.

You can't argue with a closed mind, it just closes harder. A lot of the time you shouldn't even try to convince them to do anything, because it's a complete waste of time.

But it has to be consequences they care about. Like not seeing their kids over christmas or being left out of the family group chat.

That's why 'wear a mask or you hurt others' doesn't work with conservatives. They don't care about other people.

That's more likely to work.
