Some tips for dealing with Christmas being disrupted, garnered from when I went from having a full house to living on my own in one very distressing year.
Beforehand
๐ŸŽ„Decide what makes Christmas for you, gingerbread house, lights and a tree? Just do that, ignore the rest
๐ŸŽ„Communicate with loved ones ... this year will be different, let's set up a time to call instead of meeting ...
๐ŸŽ„ Plan your day, particularly important if you are on your own, buy M/S ready made meals or do a full on cooking session, whatever brings you joy
๐ŸŽ„ include fresh air and movement in your day. Walks help us deal with stress and process emotions
๐ŸŽ„ allow yourself to be sad and reflective but set a limit on it if you can
๐ŸŽ„ limit alcohol if possible, or go for a full blow out if it feels valid, but take care of you
๐ŸŽ„ buy yourself a present, one you have always wanted, to enjoy on the day
๐ŸŽ„ feel free to ignore the whole thing, spend the day in a day-glo bikini having your own living room rave if you like
๐ŸŽ„ cherish hope, we will get through this, you will spend time with family again โค
