Interesting read about how those who questioned election results in 2000 (when Bush won by 537 votes > a machine deleted 16K Gore votes & Rs blocked the recount) & 04 (When Rs re-routed Ohio’s results 2 Smartech) have reacted 2 Trump screaming “rigged!” 1/ https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2020/12/19/2004-kerry-election-fraud-2020-448604
The 16k vote deletion was corrected before certification. But there never was a statewide recount. The Florida Supreme Court ordered one, but the US Supreme Court shut it down. 2/
This piece discusses the 16k deleted Gore votes in Volusia county and how the explanation—a corrupted memory card—made no sense. 3/ https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/26/magazine/election-security-crisis-midterms.html
4/ Unlike the Antrim Michigan situation in 2020, where a Republican clerk explained how her own error caused a problem, a plausible explanation was never provided for the Volusia error in 2004.
5/ From the NYT about 2000: “[A] faulty memory card shld produce an onscreen error message or cause a computer to lock up, not alter votes in one race while leaving others untouched. And what kind of faulty card deleted votes only 4 Gore, while adding votes to other candidates?”
6/ The re-routing of Ohio’s 2004 results to Smartech in TN is discussed in this iconic piece by Victoria Collier in Harper’s. https://harpers.org/archive/2012/11/how-to-rig-an-election/
7/ Explanation from the Republican county clerk in Antrim Michigan of what went wrong there in 2020. https://www.record-eagle.com/news/disinformation-agents-were-watching-and-waiting-to-exploit-an-error-like-antrim-countys/article_404c0e4e-2695-11eb-8517-8fa00b7f3aa1.html
8/ “Recording Reveals ALEC and GOP Election Attorneys [and the CNP] Working with State Legislators to Question Validity of Election” — in February, long before the election took place. By @JamieMCorey https://documented.net/2020/10/newly-surfaced-recording-reveals-alec-and-gop-election-attorneys-working-with-state-legislators-to-question-validity-of-election/
Trump’s election-fraud claims have caused a rift in the election-integrity community bc some recognize that Trump is a serial liar who never acts in good faith, whereas others think all election-fraud claims shld be given = consideration regardless of context or credibility. 9/
