Boddhisattva Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar guided us the revolutionary path for Annihilation of Caste

Read his legendary message at Scheduled Caste Federation Conference
Agra 18 March 1956

(along with Dadasaheb BK Gaikwad, Sohan Lal Shastri and Nanak Chand Rattu)

Babasaheb said:

"I am going to give you the social platform

Without religion our struggle will not survive

We are suppressed people because we don't have the religion of our own

The Hindus talk of us their own

Their motive is just to increase their numerical strength and nothing else"

It is because of this that Babasaheb started the movement on the year 1917 that we are Hindus and that if we had been so, we would not have remained Untouchables and would have also been pujaris in the temples

"It is because of this that I started the Temple Entry Movement in the year 1925 whose object was NOT that we wanted to worship the gods but to assert our RIGHTS

If I am a Hindu, I should also have the liberty and the right to worship and become a pujari in the temple

Upon this, the Hindus declared that there did not exist untouchability in their religion

It is only then that on 19 March 1927, I started the Mahad Tank Satyagraha in Ratnagiri district, to assert the right of Untouchables to take water from the tank

Upon this, the ill-designs of the Hindus came to the surface which are well-known to everybody

So long the Shastras of the Hindus exist and the Shankaracharya is in the saddle, they cannot emancipate anybody and their talk to emancipate us is a cry in the wilderness

He said that the underlying object of the Hindu religion is to protect the cow and the brahmins alone

Who-so-ever protected the cow and brahmins was made the Raja

This is the sole aim and purpose of their religion

It is because of this that till today neither Islam nor Hinduism ever thought of doing some good to Untouchables

"The religion that I am going to give to the Depressed Classes is Buddhism

Be Everybody Happy Over It

There is no conflict of Soul, God or even gods in it

There exist in it universal brotherhood, justice, equality and fraternity and to serve the humanity"

The foundation of Hinduism is based on Chaturvarna- the concept of inequality, discrimination and exploitation

But the religion,

I am going to give to Depressed Casses is INDIA's OWN

with it's OWN TRADITION and CULTURE

and it will one day, become the WORLD RELIGION,

the best place for it being in INDIA

"We are all old Buddhists

I am going to give this religion a new lease of life

By embracing this religion we shall become the partners of a universal religion

Secondly with a view to remove all its ills and problems, we can go to the International Court for Justice"

Babasaheb said that today's 'reservation in service' is not going to exist forever or for all times to come

Buddhism will then show us the right path

On our becoming Buddhists, we will have the opportunity to be equal partners in all walks of life

The Buddhist countries will also come to our rescue and raise our voice

"All our problems will end ONLY on our going to the Buddhist Faith

Our people say that there also exist caste struggle between our own people even, that they do not have marital relations with each other. This is true.

The Hindus religion is responsible for all these ills

Its dirty water also flow in our streets and its bad smell and odour is there in our streets also

I tried to clean it in some way but a few of our own people did not allow me to do so

Now I will use such mantra which will at once stop flowing the dirty water in our lanes

I will embrace Buddhism then only the caste struggle in our ranks and the middle classes will come to an end"

Babasaheb also hinted out at the educated, highly educated class from among dalits who had betrayed him

"I had expected that after acquiring education- higher education- they will serve their down-troddens brethens, but I am dismayed to see here crowd of clerks who engaged in feeding their own stomachs"
