So, in the holiday spirit, I wanted to share an unlikely, feel-good story about my dog Hugo (the darker one) and his friend Churro. #GoodNews

A few months ago, my wife, Abby, found a dog abandoned in a sealed bag on the street here in Mexico City. The dog was cold, hungry and left to die. So, she brought him to a vet where they said he seemed ok but was just really malnourished.

He weighed 2.5 pounds and was roughly 6 weeks old. So she brought him home and we fed him and, despite all he'd been through, he was such a kind, happy little puppy.

Our dog, Hugo (who is also a rescue), wanted to play really badly but we didn’t let him because we didn’t want to chance getting the puppy sick.

Mexico City shelters have had a really tough time getting dogs adopted throughout the pandemic so we kept him and posted everywhere trying to find him a home. Not too long after Abby found him, a wonderful family said they’d like to meet him.

They fell in love straightaway and adopted him the next day, naming him Churro.
In a it’s-a-small-world kinda vibe, this family was already taking their other dog, Pluto, to the same veterinarian that we use for our dog, Hugo. This vet also boards dogs when owners travel.

When we have to leave, Hugo stays with her, where he is right now. Churro is also there. So right now, Hugo and Churro are best buddies, hanging with each other along with their vet whom they both adore.
