As a black man striving to love black women more and more everyday, I’m more than willing to enter spaces our women are constructively criticizing and voicing their concerns about black men in their lives and how we as men can do better (1/?)
However, I’m not listening to negative criticism and unproductive criticism. Despite how hard it can be to take constant criticism— negative or positive, if it’s constructive, I’m all for it (2/?)
All the time I hear “if it doesn’t apply to you, move around it”, but I don’t think people understand how IMPACTFUL words are... especially when you’re generalizing a whole group of species and you just so happen to be part of that group (3/?)
It’s not easy to hear constant negative criticism, try to shake that off, then go enter spaces where you’re still being criticized but it comes with clear intentions (4/?)
In conclusion, give black men their flowers. A lot of us out here doing the work under immense pressure.
