It's college admissions season

College-prep has increasingly become crazier. The kind of pressure we put our kids under is both unhealthy and unproductive

It's designed to kill "fun" in learning ...
The expectation of "straight A's" makes students shy away from experimentation at a very young age

I feel terrible for kids going through this pressure cooker

We need to stress as parents and teachers that the "rank" of college you get into does not define your capabilities
It matters less which college one goes to, and more what one does with it

e.g. work on figuring out which field really interests you and allows you to carve a career out of

focus on developing expertise in areas that interest you, but don't be straight-jacketed by "curriculum"
The modern economy rewards those who can think on their feet creatively, who are not boxed-in by orthodoxy

Do your best, and stay positive. Don't let "college admissions" define your life. It's not worth it.
