Hi, being vegan isn't a privilege because veganism is an ethical stance on doing the least harm to other beings AS PRACTICAL AND POSSIBLE ***this will look different for every person. However, there IS privilege in being able to eat a specific diet (not just plant-based).
Privilege isn't just having money. There is privilege in living near a grocery store, having the transportation to do so & finding *affordable* produce. There is also privilege in being able to buy specialty vegan items but also "humane, free-range quality meat" from a local.
There is privilege in having TIME & energy to make homemade meals as well as having a working stove, pots, etc. Even being able to hunt (not talking about indigenous people) is a privilege. Having a hunting license, the equipment needed, plus the skill and time required to hunt
There are a million other things I didn't even mention that could impede someone from eating a specific diet (whether that's needing someone to cook for you, having food allergies, being sensitive to textures, etc) and I'm not dismissing them & ppl shouldn't be forced to explain!
The foods that people have available to them vary and certain diets can be more challenging to abide by depending on where you live. THERE IS NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT. However, VEGANISM ISN'T A DIET. Anyone can be vegan because it's about doing what YOU can- not what others can't. Fin
