Let's take a look at @MayorBowser's factually challenged restaurant shutdown order.
CLAIM: "a surge of COVID-19 cases"

FACT: 7-day average cases peaked on December 8, without intervention.
Claim: COVID hospital census is rising dramatically "post-Thanksgiving."

FACT: COVID rise has been modest in context and may be peaking. Flu is absent. Overall hospital utilization is seasonally normal.
Claim: Case rate is up 8x since July low.

FACT: On a testing-adjusted basis, today's case rate (5.25) is less than 2x the July low.
Claim: We can't identify the source of spread, so more time at home is the answer.

FACT: We know spread is overwhelmingly in the home, so this action flies in the face of all available data. (Maybe Cuomo isn't the best guy to copy?)
This follow-the-ignorant-leader stuff is completely ridiculous. Just because MoCo is stupid doesn't mean you have to be @MayorBowser! But hey, new post-peak restrictions are an easy political/messaging win... just claim credit for what's already happening!
