Thread: So many people are going to be lonely, disconnected or alone this Christmas. Here’s a short thread on great initiatives working to ensure that even if we are apart we can still spend #ChristmasTogether, please add:
Firstly if you are lonely please don’t suffer in silence. There’s no stigma, everyone is lonely sometimes. You can call NHS Volunteer Responders for help on 0808 196 3646 (8am to 8pm, 7 days a week) or visit http://www.nhsvolunteerresponders.org.uk
If you can volunteer to help go to NHS responders/ Royal Voluntary Service you can sign up here: http://nhsvolunteerresponders.org.uk/christmastogether
You can join in the amazing #ChristmasEveJingle being planned with people ringing bells as a symbol of hope and togetherness at 6pm on Christmas Eve. More being announced on Monday.
You can take advantage of the fact that Zoom are making their service free on Christmas Day.
As part of the #ChristmasTogether campaign thousands of people are planning to call someone they know who might be alone on Christmas Day.
You can join the Great Winter Get Together from the Jo Cox Foundation, they have lots of great ideas and virtual events @great_together
@SarahMillican75 is organising her #JoinIn again this Christmas which I know people rave about
So many other ideas out there. But it’s all down to us. We can’t all be together this Christmas but perhaps we can still rescue the spirit of connection.
