1) Direct response marketing (DRM) is a strategy that works independent of platform and medium.
Social media, email, website, video, images, text...
You can apply DRM everywhere.

2) This is my way of putting it:
Direct = Immediate
Response = Reaction
Marketing = Marketing
What it means is that instead of chasing after customers, you attract your customers by motivating them to take immediate action.
Who wouldn't want that, right

3) As always, let's make a simple example:
Imagine selling graphic designs.
How would you go about finding clients?
A) Put ads up everywhere with your offer
B) Chase after potential clients
C) Have qualified prospects come to you

4) So in this example you're a graphic designer.
Now let's say you want to create banners for Twitter accounts
Sending DMs to every Twitter account out there would be chasing after clients (and very time consuming)
In DRM, you think of SOMETHING that makes them contact you

6) You guessed it right:
It attracts people that want to have a new & better header on their Twitter account.
Every single person contacting you to receive this free ebook is a potential client for you.
In your ebook, you reveal all the secrets. You prove your expertise.

7) Then at the end of the ebook, you make your offer: "I can create a header like that for you within 48 hours."
NOT ONLY THAT
Since the person contacted you directly to receive the ebook (Twitter DM, email, phone call)
You have the means to contact them again!

8) After they received the ebook, ask them: "How did you like the ebook?"
When they respond to you, you can make them a special offer:
"I have a special offer going on right now. Usually it's $75 per header but if you order today before midnight, it's only $50."

9) So as you can see, direct response marketing did three things for you:
- Potential clients contacted YOU
- You prove to them that you are an expert
- You now have an open communication channel with them
It's a smooth experience that doesn't feel like hard selling.

10) On top of that, it is easy for you to track:
- How many people requested my free ebook?
- How many made an order after reading?
- How many made an order when I offered the discount?
The answers reveal what you need to improve to sell more graphic designs!

11) You can do this for any group of clients that your business has.
Above was an example for Twitter headers.
But as graphic designer, you would have many other client groups:
- Instagram
- Website owners
- etc.
For each group, you create an offer that attracts them.

12) Another aspect of direct response marketing is the sense of urgency.
When you offer a free ebook, people need request it NOW.
You motivate them to react immediately.
And it was their CHOICE to make the request to receive your free ebook.

13) That's precisely why people have lead magnets for their email list.
1. Identify prospects when they request your ebook
