/ It seems there is a lot of growing interest in using copy trading algos and I think people need to be careful and understand the risks involved
/ I'm not saying that they are all scams, but there are a lot of factors that can affect profitability. Number 1 is slippage and fees. If a lot of people are using an algo you can bet slippage is so bad that the algo is unprofitable or a lot less profitable than expected
/ Backtests are very limited. Ok your backtest is profitable, but market conditions always change and never stay the same. 9/10 times a good back test is from overfitting the data.
/ Even if you have live tested for a while, alpha decays and other people discover the same edge. Which means you lose your edge. And again the market conditions can change.
/ If you DO have a good publicly available algo you can bet your ass others will analyse it and figure out the edge. And then again, your edge is gone.
/ So all I'm saying is be careful out there most of these are not money printing machines.
