With this top 15, I wanted to create a list that was personal to me, not just another generic top 15 filled with albums HHT tells you to enjoy. I’ll have 6 HM albums, and then I’ll explain why I placed each of the top 15 albums where I did and have my favourite 3 songs from it
Here are my 6 honourable mentions
-while the world was burning by SAINt JHN
-nectar by Joji
-the goat by Polo g
-Detroit 2 by Big sean
-High off life by future
-extinction level event 2: the wrath of God by Busta Rhymes
-a muse in her feelings by dvsn
15. Tickets to my downfall- MGK
Kicking off the top 15 is one the most surprising albums of the year. I don’t think many expected a punk rock album from MGK, nor did many expect him to pull it off aswell as he did.
-kiss kiss
-bloody Valentine
-lonely
14. Big conspiracy- Jhus
Insanely good album, production and flow is impeccable. Lyrics are above and beyond expectations. Couple songs are forgettable but an overall great album
-big conspiracy
-fight for your right
-fortune teller
13. Power up- AC/DC
this is a sentimental placement. My dad is a massive AC/DC fan and he passed that down to me. We both listened to the album then we had a solid 30 minute discussion about the album and how we enjoyed it.
-realise
-kick you when your down
-code red
12. SFTSAFTM- pop smoke
I only discovered pop after his death, and I’m disappointed it took me that long to do. Album has abit of everything from hardcore drill to more mellow songs to relax to, showed by the commercial success
-got it on me
-bad bitch from Tokyo
-44 bulldog
11. No pressure- Logic
Really enjoyable album, great closing album for him. Some of his best work in years. This album in general is so happy and relaxed, and I think the happiness that you can feel makes the album so much better.
-hit my line
-dadbod
-heard em say
10. LND- juice
As massive juice fan, I really enjoyed this album, which I know isn’t popular on HHT. As someone who doesn’t listen to leaks, it probably helped my experience. Some of juices best songs, but also has a fair bit of filler
-bad energy
-wishing well
-man of the year
9. Alfredo- Freddie Gibbs
Best coke rap album of the year. Production is clean and doesn’t overstate the lyrics, but don’t it get it twisted, the alchemist kills it with this project. (I did accidentally delete this)
-God is perfect
-Scottie Beam
-something to rap about
8.Spilligon- Spillage village
Really underrated album from this year. JID and Earthgang combo really well with the wide array of features on this. The use of a gospel choir is also fantastic.
-Pslamsing
-end of daze
-Judas
7. After hours- the weeknd
Before you kill me, please don’t. I think this is a fantastic album with a great concept behind, just some of the songs are a tad forgettable. Great album, just not fully for me. If you rate it 10, I get it.
-alone again
-hardest to love
-heartless
6. Unlocked- Denzel curry
I love everything about this album. The concept is so cool to me, the production is fire and Zel brings it 100%. If this album was longer, even just upto 30 mins long, it would 100% be my number 1.
-take it back v2
-pyro
-so incredible pkg
5.Limbo- amine
Love this album a lot. as a long time amine fan to see this propel him further in his career was dope. Production is fresh on every song so none sound alike, amine uses these beats well. The features, whilst few, kill it
-compensating
-pressure in my palms
-roots
4. Punisher- phoebe bridgers
Arguably the most talented female musician out there rn. This album is just beautiful. Her vocals blend together with the production so well. The almost mellow production fits great. The overall vibe of the album is so great.
-Kyoto
-moon song
-ICU
3. Kings disease- Nas
Nas will never top his earlier projects, but kings disease, much like 4:44 will define how to make music as you grow older. Keeps it fresh whilst not going to far from his roots. The variety of features keeps it different.
-car 85
-ultra black
-all bad
2. Savage Mode 2- 21 savage+Metro
The atmosphere the album creates is so different to anything released this year. The whole album seems like a throwback to past rap eras, with the booming production. Fantastic album
-snitches and rats
-steppin on *REDACTED*
-rich *REDCATED* shit
1. man on the moon 3- Kid cudi
2nd best in the trilogy. The definition between the acts is clear and just helps the album flow superbly. The features, few and far between do wonders. love the Travis Elements but glad it fades after act 1
-tequila shots
-heaven on earth
-the void
