Boroline was launched in Kolkata by Gourmohan Dutta in 1929. To strengthen the Indian populace economically, the Bengali merchant established GD Pharmaceuticals, a company that aimed to manufacture medicinal products that matched the quality of + https://twitter.com/sunandavashisht/status/1340162095313240064
similar products (imported) during Britishers time. Dutta, the patriot, joined the Swadeshi movement and started manufacturing Boroline. Initially, the product was made at his residence in North Kolkata; the place since then has been known as "The Boroline House."
Apart from being a medicinal product, Boroline was a tight slap on face of the British and a means of firm protest against foreign goods & the economic exploitation by the colonial rulers. The home-grown (Made in India) product was was a representation of nationalism of Indians.
Despite knowing the formula behind making of Boroline, British companies and multinational companies haven't been able to overpower the popularity of Boroline.
When India got independence, the company distributed over 1lac tubes of Boroline to mark freedom from the clutches of British. Boroline has always been an integral part of every Bengali family and has remained the medical cure for ailment.
