I wasn’t “born,” to be an entrepreneur, but became a successful one by any metric.

Here’s a thread to give hope to those like me, who never sought it out but are considering the path...

..this is what it offered me and why I took the path. 1/
I was always driven to be a subject matter expert. I didn’t want to be a “good” psych doc...I wanted to be the “best”.

If someone had given me an interesting job with a true ability to innovate & grow - I likely would have stayed forever.

But most jobs have ceilings. 2/
What happened? Every job I took encouraged & rewarded mediocrity - you put in the time, meet basic expectations, and that was it.

Same pay, little growth, innovation not encouraged.

It wasn’t for me. I looked around at coworkers and thought “I can’t end up like this.” 3/
Entrepreneurship offered freedom & the potential to innovate, create, and be great at what I did. To truly see what I could do in this science of blending psychology and work to change how people perform. Ultimately, that’s all I wanted.

Entrepreneurship was just a tool. 4/
I became an entrepreneur by necessity & maybe that's your place too.

It was my only choice to be what I wanted to be...it was always about the work.

It was a way to do what I truly wanted to do, and be rewarded for the standards I kept all along. 5/
I was raised in a traditional household where people do traditional work. It wasn't something encouraged or something I was ever around.

But society will reward you if you bring it something of value.

If you're like me, I encourage you to explore it. 6/
