Proud to launch the #earlylearning in 2020 report w/ @KeyaLamba highlighting three trends from the year of #COVID based on our interactions supported by the work of the @TeachForAll early childhood community. Some insights & memorable lines [thread]
While the science behind #earlylearning is clear the field needs #stories to show how it can address policy issues (jobs, health, skill training) & why investment is wise @ashleybeckner @notesfrompequod
“We need to fund the intangible of human development and we have not quite figured out whose balance sheet that sits on.” @indy_johar
Parents have unequal, often poor access to information. This damages ability to seek & find high quality #childcare and distorts long term perspectives which should include 'cradle to career' thinking @edvainker
we need 21century childhoods for 21century kids! @RachCarrell we *can* have our head in the sand about children growing up around multiple devices though technology will *not* solve for trust, learning ability and lack of access :)
“Teaching and learning is not going back to where it was after the pandemic. I am here to build for the future” @joan_lombardi
There are positive shifts! #India has added #earlylearning to its national education #policy and #SouthAfrica is including #ECE jobs in the recovery plan
The #earlylearning coalition has to work hand in hand with #gender and #YOUTH movements to show how it can help empower, create opportunity and improve lives
Technology can support parental education, breakdown language barriers, ease large scale access if it works as a tool in the hands of workers
This combination of coalition + technology has the *potential* to show us some ways forward in a world shaken by the challenge parents and teachers are experiencing
To power what will be a 9.7 billion planet we should reach for high quality that lies at the heart of #earlylearning *and* we open eyed about the possibility and traps of technology, investment & political cycles that shape it from the edges
