I definitely understand the struggle to keep head above water financially when operating in this dysfunctional industry, but please also keep record shops & mailorders in mind, and make sure they are looked after when you sell your physical music (1)

Of course it’s important to support artists & labels direct too (digital = bandcamp) but for the physical items, hogging upfront copies and doing your best to sell as many as possible via bandcamp is going to eventually destroy a certain infrastructure of record shops

It’s really hard for stores & distros at the moment... Critical times.
Some might say shops aren’t needed anymore now that there’s a social network included with bandcamp, or other algorithmic benefits of the digital world

(4) but it’s important to remember how much community record shops & mailorders foster, and how they provide a stable platform away from social media and algorithmic chance
4) there’s a ton of work (past, present & future) involved in keeping a store running and building a community around it, and there are usually several people involved in and around these stores that benefit from the support - it’s a whole chain that goes further than you think
