well can't pretend I'm not very down in the dumps so, Imma start an appreciation thread that will follow a similar format to when I was complementing my mutuals where different characters/entries will have separate branches of the thread, but now it will be more fleshed out

I'll start with the very character in my pfp, Lelouch, I really like him for a couple of reasons, for one thing he isn't physically strong and his power is very limited although it may seem op, it's really only so good due to how he uses it and he doesn't rely on it alone to get

people on his side because he can do so without Geass.
another thing that gets me about him, but on a more personal level, is that he has done many good things, but he could never admit to himself that he did a truly righteous and selfless act and I feel that, the person I find

the hardest to compliment is myself and I don't think I can be satisfied with myself sometimes, sometimes I was ok with being the locus for blame because I felt I deserved it and could take it more than anyone else, although I of course could never measure up to such achievements

another character I really like and I get that the fandom doesn't always take this well is Makoto Niijima, she is often written off as cardboard, but I feel I relate to her more than any other character, I was never the popular kid in school, barely had any friends at all and the

reason for that was I just couldn't value or take interest in what all the other students did, and in this case where I live, it was live sports and vehicles, even at young ages that was all the rage here and I just couldn't see the appeal, and it was difficult, I also found when

my brother actually verbally compared me to him before I even watched Shield Hero, Naofumi Iwatani is a man who always had good intentions and even before he goes into the book you find he actually looked out for his brother when he got into drugs, but unfortunately he was taken

to a world where he'd be despised before even being met and whilst he had every intention of protecting Myne, she still blackmailed him and accused him of rape and whilst I haven't been accused by people in a way where they'd have any basis to get me in trouble it really sucked

Joker is a pretty similar case to Naofumi, but he isn't quite as spiteful, he has a good heart that gets him kicked to the curve , but he is more forgiving despite willingness to mentally break the oppressors, don't want to go longer cause I'd repeat a lot of stuff from Naofumis

this one isn't as much relate so much as admire and boy is he a lot to admire from overlord to Mgronalds employee, Sadao is a very diligent worker who climbs the ranks and doesn't let himself get knocked down by memories of his prior status and during his time in the body of a

human he becomes more empathetic and understanding of them he regrets his ways and he has changed so much the hero feels like a villain complaining about him
