A primary key to an astrologically-informed spiritual practice is to continually observe the present, with clarity but with as neutral a bias as possible.

Historical correlations - important context, but hold lightly.

Abstracted principles - meaningful, yet tentative.
The practice always begins again by observing with an open mind and paying attention to the quality of disclosure unfolding. Observing what is.

Not what you want it to be, or what you dislike about it. All that is secondary sense-making and taste-making.
In the primary mode of observing before conceptualizing, all prior knowledge is a hindrance, baggage.

Part of the return to the present moment is in detaching from all that, and valuing present disclosure over pattern recognition with prior states.
In the early stages of practicing transit analysis, it's easy to project what you want out of your transits.

There is value in egoic self-direction, but there is a deeper cosmological disclosure happening beyond these whims, and learning from *that* is the spiritual practice.
The Rolling Stones phrased this sense beautifully with:

"You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometime
You'll find
You get what you need"
If you can get this primary observational key ingrained in your habits, the sense-making and knowledge that follows from it will be high quality, refined and subtle.

This is the key to accessing the archetype beyond stereotype. 🙏
