People blaming Shastri for this LMAO. Do they think cricket is football where the coach sets up everything?
It comes from a fundamental overrating of the Indian cricket team by fans who think they have the divine right to dominate world cricket. You almost lost a series to Australia AT HOME under Kumble. Where was this energy then?
Spoiler alert : This Indian cricket team is a very, very, very good cricket team. Their greatest ever at home. Their greatest bowling attack ever. But they have flaws. Too bad you let CView convince you they are 00s Australia and 80s WI and want an easy scapegoat in Shastri.
All the away series they have lost so far (SA, England, NZ) have been to teams more skillful in those conditions. They have also been unlucky with the toss. Changing the coach doesn't change this.
That doesn't mean the team management is blameless. They have made numerous selection errors. But none of those are result changing ones in Test Cricket.
Limited overs cricket on the other hand is where the team management is definitely holding them back. They had 3 years to fix their middle order for the 2019 WC. Didn't do it. Now they are again messing it up by playing Iyer etc in T20.
That's far more worthy of criticism (despite winning 10 matches in a row) than a freak collapse to Cummins and Hazlewood on a tough pitch. It's far more controllable. Unfortunately, analysis and outrage in sport happens to be mostly results driven.
