One thing I want to talk about real quick is how wonderful it is that Furudate brings in the importance of food in Haikyuu. As someone who’s never had a healthy relationship with it in so many ways being able to read something that brings me so much comfort and have it tell me
Food is good! Eat! That’s important! It’s something really really special and nice for me. Not just food either— general self care too. I see so often in mangas that it’s praised when characters go above and beyond their capabilities and run themselves to the ground
And I know it’s manga and I’m not going to look at characters with superpowers and think wow because they’re doing the most I should do the most, but it’s also so nice to have that message in there. Taking care of yourself is just as important as working hard.
Being kind to yourself both physically and mentally is crucial in growth. And whether that’s Kita to Atsumu or Ukai to Hinata or any of the many times it’s been uttered in manga, that’s one of the messages that really sticks with me. And I know it’s the samefor so many people too
