When Hawks loses his wings he connects with First Wife. She knows what its like, she's been through something similar, losing both of her legs like that. She's willing to talk with him and listen as he rants and yells and sobs about how broken he feels, how incomplete and useless
and how /helpless/ he feels. It's stupid, but being outside now feels like a challenge. It feels like the sky is mocking him, and tall buildings suddenly feel like they're boxing him in, /caging him/, because he'll never again be able to spread his wings and escape them.
He
He
starts spending a lot of time at the Todoroki home at her insistence--she's worried about him slipping into depression and living all alone. So he has dinner with them at least 3 nights a week.

Sometimes he'll just curl up in a random corner somewhere with a weighted blanket
draped around his shoulders, almost similar to the way his wings used to envelop him. He could always wrap himself in his wings and hide from the world, hug himself, but now he can't. All he's got is this weighted blanket.

She calls a private therapist to the house and asks him
to please, at least try, at least try to talk about it. He's stubborn at first but it really does help to just rant and explode for awhile.

He gets to spend more time with Enji, too. It really fucking sucks to see his idol like this, old wounds reopened and grieving the loss of his son all over again. They're both miserable, fucked up, and broken, but they can lean on each other,
He gets to spend more time with Enji, too. It really fucking sucks to see his idol like this, old wounds reopened and grieving the loss of his son all over again. They're both miserable, fucked up, and broken, but they can lean on each other,
and lean on this tiny frail woman in a wheelchair, too. If she can become fully paralyzed and have memory issues from a traumatic brain injury, then they can live through this. Somehow.
They will, and they do.
They will, and they do.
