Dear everyone,

I have something to share about 2020.

I can say with a straight face and all honesty that for the entirety of 2020 lockdown, while working from home,

(Read on)
That I went to work every single day, whether in my living room or dining room or spare room,

Or on the occasional trip out of town,

Always and every day in STREET CLOTHES.

Let me repeat:

I put my STREET CLOTHES on to go to work, mere feet from bed,

EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

Not once did I wear sweats or underwear or stretch pants at my desk, on my interminable gauntlet of Zoom calls, Zoom Webinars, Hopin events and all the other virtual platforms.

I could have but

To me, that way lay madness.

At first, it seemed like maybe it would be a few weeks. So I figured, don’t break routine.

When the writing was on the wall, it became clear that I had to make a concerted effort to KEEP routine.

(Therefore)
I resolved that I would always wear street clothes to work, whether “to work” meant ten feet from bed, or on the far side of the house, or in a hotel or Airbnb.

I guess I felt that this was the one measure of control I could exercise over the chaos around me.

But more than that, I guess I thought that if I just rolled into work in my kerchief and cap, there would be no separation between home life and work. And that was a thought I could not bear.

This has been a tough time for all of us. I think that doing this one thing ->
May have made all the difference in my ability to cope with the shitshow that was 2020.

I’m glad I did it.

So to recap:
I WORE STREET CLOTHES TO WORK EVERY DAY DURING 2020 LOCKDOWN.

EVERY. DAMN. DAY.

No sweats.
No stretch pants.
No underwear.
No Tobin.

And I think it really helped.
CODA:

Almost forgot of mention that I *nearly* broke down this week. This very last week of me working in 2020.

I was losing the plot, woke up and almost nonchalantly went to my standing desk with my Ring Light to get on my first zoom in my =shudder=
Uniqlo sweats.

Which I love btw.

But then I realized I only had at that point, like, FOUR MORE DAYS and I would make it the whole year.

So, thanks to whatever perverse force that drives us to acheive a milestone like that...
