It's both funny and depressing to me that the transphobic game failed not because cis people decided not to buy it in an act of good allyship, but rather because (if I understand correctly) the creators apparently challenged Sony to a gun fight and brought their best knife.
Metaphorically, I mean.
If the game had been beautiful and bug-free and deliciously optimized to play on all your favorite consoles, a lot of cis people on my feed would still be raving about how great it is, and would only MAYBE remember to add "...shame about the trans stuff" once in awhile.
Note: If you ARE a cis person who didn't buy the game because you care about the trans stuff, I really truly appreciate it. Thank you.
I write this thread not to bellyache but to instead caution that the NEXT transphobic mess of a game might not be filled with more bugs than a picnic basket at the annual honey fair. And we need to _not buy it_.
See, the fun thing about Twitter is that if I use the game's name, I get term-search harassed; if I use asterisks in the name, I get accused of circumventing mute filters; and if I don't name the game at all, people complain about that too. https://twitter.com/astraloutsider/status/1340204492340428800?s=19
And complaints like yours fell particularly disingenuous since you were able to figure out which game I meant regardless of my failure to name it. https://twitter.com/astraloutsider/status/1340204492340428800?s=19
I'm about to block you, but I wish you luck in your upcoming Google search to educate yourself. https://twitter.com/astraloutsider/status/1340204996374056961?s=19
Here's a duckduckgo, for everyone in my mentions wanting more context. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=transphobic+game&va=b&t=hc&ia=web
