Groundhog Day approaches - the annual debate about 26 Jan. Maybe there’ll be a few more on the streets. Maybe there’ll be a new hashtag...
When ppl ask what I think, my answer is this:
First Nations need a strong rep body - a Voice - to determine what day, if at all, and how.

The Fed Gov laughs at us, tweeting, posting on FB and Inst, arguing our views about 26 Jan.
They laugh because they have destroyed our structural unity, over & again, so we can’t genuinely put collective FN’s views to parliaments & the ppl, & coherently campaign if they say no.

It’s the same for so much else.
Indigenous ppl are no more homogenous than any other humans - we need resources and policy to choose representation to regularly come together, have informed debate and consensus building, so we can politically represent our priorities & interests.

A Voice (the processes within the Blak org) is how free, prior and informed consent (FPIC) can happen.
In the absence of a Voice, FPIC is a phantom, or worse, it is too easily manufactured by those who have power.
This a reason why mob in the Uluru dialogues prioritised Voice!

It’s a farce, when a member of parliament representing an electorate, colonial state & political party, opposes a First Nations Voice - because FPIC - while not advocating for a constitutionally enshrined Voice for mob.
I wonder sometimes why the @Greens don’t see the irony.

It was best explained by @RoyAhSee:
‘We don’t want a Green voice, we don’t want a Red voice, we don’t want a Blue voice. We want a Blak voice. And it has to be enshrined in the Constitution.’[xi]

To conclude this thread: My opinion is #changethedate #changethenation #dayofmourning.
But my priority is to organise for a referendum, so the Au people can vote for a First Nations Voice the likes of Howard cannot repeal/defund/silence us - so that my ppl can decide! #FPIC
