AUTHENTICITY & THE PSYCHOLOGY BEHIND STRIVING TO BE SEEN AS PUREđź”±

➡️Striving for authenticity kinda sets up a lot of people for failure. When we are on a quest for spiritual purity, this perfectionism inevitably escalates neurotic defense mechanisms to protect us. (CONT)
I have particularly notice though that a lot of ppl in the twitter community strive to be authentic as their go-to personality and ego. For about 7 years, I thought this was the safest place to put myself too.
BUT...The more we force ourselves to be seen as authentic by the public, the more our inauthentic traits take on neurotic expressions and projections! We end up not being authentic at all. Because not every1 is made to have an authentic experience 24/7.
Striving to be seen as the most authentic human ends up really reinforcing us into an unrealistic role & feeds narcissism. If we believe we truly can attain perfection like that, we will unconsciously place ourselves on a pedastal.
When we digest that we are becoming a 'pure' person, this inevitably creates a binary of how we see us v. others. This can eventually manifest as feeling above someone else, having thoughts where "this person isn't authentic" like me.
The goals that we set truly influence and either nurture/destroy our ego. I notice that the 'authenticity personality train' that everyone rides, actually takes away from the space to admit - as a human, we won't be authentic all the time!
Transits also come into play with disrupting the myth that authenticity is something that be achieved and never needing work on, again. Authenticity in short, is an unattainable goal that inevitably strokes our dynamic to reinforce narcissistic tendencies and projections.
For me, I have really had to come to terms with why I wanted to be seen as authentic. I noticed that when I put my energy into the community instead of my authentic image I was really able to step into my human experience fully, without my ego trying to attain a title.
When we attain these spiritual titles, when we believe there is this mountain peak and if we reach it.. we will forever~ be liked really sets us up for future failure and takes away from the BEST part about being human: making mistakes.
Maybe this message is for my younger self or someone else... But embrace your moments being human, fucking up, and not being a perfect Guru 24/7! No one is suppose to be liked by everyone, no one's chart is set up for universal synastry like that.
You will lose out on the spectrum of the human experience if you only want to be liked, seen as authentic. When you set a goal like that in your mind - your thoughts grow around it. My best suggestion: embrace fucking up. No one is designed to have an authentic experience 24/7.
Anyways! This message was partly to myself. I am in the midst of exploring who I am. Hope it resonated for someone else out there too. We got this!
