Can we PLEASE normalize creative professionals who also work day jobs? It’s so harmful and disingenuous to act like if you aren’t creating art full time you haven’t “made it” yet.
You can still be succesful and creatively fulfilled even if your art isn’t your main source of income.
We live in a SOCIETY that has us following other peoples paths and when that path doesn’t work out for us we think it’s our fault or that we “failed”.
I have seen so many super talented creators burn out. Please know that everyone’s path is different and know that hard work is very important but luck, timing, privilege and a million other things are a huge factor too.
Lots of people are salty and saying stuff like “We should pay artists living wages instead!!!!!!” As a gotcha like I’m not in support of literally everyone in my life who is an artist?? Of course I’d want that but being realistic and honest is what I’ve always have been
I will never understand when people respond to you talking about your own career and advice and some random is like “No you’re wrong!!!!!!!”
There is also this weird thing where everyone is like this already is normal! Lots of people do it! yet i like barely see people mentioning it. I used to be one of those people who thought that talking about it and admitting that I work a day job made me look less legit.
