Understanding how the Moderna coronavirus vaccine works:
Pfizer's mRNA vaccine for COVID-19 was the first authorization of any treatment developed using the technology.
The most common adverse reactions: injection site pain, fatigue, headache, muscle pain, joint pain, and chills; severe adverse reactions occurred in 0.2% to 9.7% of participants, and were generally less frequent in participants ≥65 years of age.
“In the natural world, the body relies on millions of tiny proteins to keep itself alive and healthy, and it uses mRNA to tell cells which proteins to make. If you could design your own mRNA, you could, in theory, hijack that process and create any protein you might desire ...”
“mRNA vaccines have elicited potent immunity against infectious disease targets in animal models of influenza virus, Zika virus, rabies virus and others, especially in recent years, using lipid-encapsulated or naked forms of sequence-optimized mRNA.” https://www.nature.com/articles/nrd.2017.243
“mRNA cancer vaccines ... various types of directly injectable mRNA, have been employed in numerous cancer clinical trials, with some promising results showing antigen-specific T cell responses and prolonged disease-free survival.” https://www.nature.com/articles/nrd.2017.243
New classes of medication seem scary but they’re pretty incredible.

For example, we’ve been able to treat untreatable migraines through a new type of drugs called CGRP blocker injections.
