While getting a shot đź’‰may seem trivial these days, we often take for granted the absence of many diseases our parents and GPs suffered (polio, mumps, diphtheria, etc)

#CovidVaccine is historic in keeping ours and future generations safe

Thankful 🙏 to receive it today 1/1
Spoke to my Dad a few months ago about this, and the game changer vaccines were in the 50’s and 60’s.

He had a cousin who died of “lockjaw”. Tetanus for you non-Texans.

He also recounted stories of others who suffered what are now vaccine preventable deaths /2
I cared for one tetanus patient in the 23 years since graduating 👨‍🎓 Med school

That patient survived. It was brutal to watch.

I cannot imagine the helplessness am sure my great-aunt and uncle felt watching there son suffer /3
Grateful for today and this slight discomfort in my right arm tonight
