About 10 years ago, I texted someone randomly and asked for a favor.

They agreed and I said thanks and ended the conversation.

A few hours later, they sent me a text and said: you know it's fine I can do this for you but it kind of sucks that you ask for a favor and ghost me.
I'll never forget that and I still think about it often.

I obviously still ask for favors but I always check on people and I always make conversation outside of "asking for things".
I've been thinking about this a lot lately about how it pertains to social media.

It's easy to ask people to share your work or comment on things without making the extra effort to see how the person you're asking for a favor is doing.
So I encourage you to do both and make conversation without needing something in return.
