The letter states that we cannot just wait for broad vaccination, a point echoed by several vaccine experts who signed the letter.

Broad vaccination may not happen until the summer. Rapid antigen tests can help fill that gap.

The letter appealed to the federal government to:

1. Create a regulatory pathway specifically tailored for these types of contagiousness tests.
2. Fund these tests.
