8 frequently asked questions about vaccines, ANSWERED.

🧵
Absolutely no safety steps were cut to get COVID-19 vaccines made and approved.

Trials moved faster by stream-lining bureaucratic and logistic steps, thanks to funding and review processes being prioritized.
The vast majority of side effects from vaccines occur VERY SOON after vaccination -- majority within hours, but for more rare side effects 6 weeks or at most up to 3 months after.

Clinical trials for COVID-19 vaccines started in March 2020, so they would have been seen by now.
The best controls are carefully chosen, including saline placebos for new vaccines when appropriate, or "active controls" if needed.
The new mRNA vaccines CANNOT alter human DNA.

mRNA is like a post-it note -- it's a temporary template your cells use to make proteins.

The mRNA vaccines just contain instructions for making the outer spike protein of SARS-CoV-2, & they do that outside the nucleus far from DNA!
Fetal cell lines are NOT used in the development of mRNA vaccines, like the mRNA vaccines made by Pfizer or Moderna.

When fetal cell lines are used, it's only during the development process and they're purified out such that no more than a nanogram of fragments would remain.
True herd immunity can only be achieved with vaccinations.

Even if you think you're "low risk" for COVID-19 complications, it's still important for you to get it.
Everything has a risk.

It is expected and safe to have some side effects from a vaccine. Many of these are "on target" effects and reflect your immune system doing its job.

More rare adverse events from the vaccine will be far fewer than those from COVID infection itself.
Vaccines save lives by PREVENTING disease. In fact, between 2010-2015, they saved at least 10 million deaths, according to the WHO Director General Dr. Chan.

Vaccines have some of the most data of any medicines we use.

But they can only be as effective as their distribution.
