Al lot of great advice in response to this tweet. Here’s mine:

1) Find YOUR voice. Don’t try to be like other analysts. Be yourself and develop your niche.

2) Produce consistent content even when it feels like no one is looking at it. https://twitter.com/kcroyals2102/status/1340002858016665605
3) Do things others aren’t doing. The #2EarlyMocks, @BARFLeague and @TGFBI were great tools for me in expanding my profile.
4) Show up. When I first started doing this, I went to Tout Wars just to meet people and help out. I wasn’t invited, I just showed up. The connections I made there were invaluable. Go to FPAZ, Tout Wars, FPFLA, or anywhere there is a gathering of fantasy analysts. It is worth it.
5) Connect with people. Twitter is a fantastic tool to get noticed, but just reaching out to people in the industry helps an amazing amount. Without the help of people like @sporer @enosarris @rotobuzzguy and @lawrmichaels, I’d still be an unknown.
Plenty of big names in the industry are more than willing to help guide you. You just have to ask. So many people came on my podcast we I had less than 20 listeners. They brought their fan base with them and some stuck around.
I try to always be available to help others like they helped me. You just have to ask.
6) Be a good person. This gets noticed. No one wants to hire a person that won’t represent their company or brand well. When you burn people it isn’t forgotten. Trashing others, bailing on commitments, and abusive behavior is not going to get you very far.
On the flip side, being known as a person that is helpful, follows through on commitments, and easy going, can help you grow your brand/influence.
7) Admit when you are wrong. No one is going to be right all the time. It’s ok to say when you don’t know or you we mistaken. This is true for analysis or generally. I make a lot of mistakes both professionally & just in general but no one can say I don’t own them. Except my wife
8) Have reasonable expectations. Most of us in the industry do this for little money or free. Expect that is going to most likely just be a hobby, but treat it like a job. Hard work pays off, but it may not pay well.
