I don’t normally talk about personal stuff on here but apparently I’m making two exceptions this week. I think this is an important topic and maybe this thread will help someone.

On Wednesday I was diagnosed with ADHD.
This has been a really quick journey for me, less than a year, in fact. The waiting list for an assessment in Norfolk is two years. Not wanting to take up a space for someone, I decided to go private.
I am a powerful, successful woman but there are a number of things I struggle with that I had no idea were symptoms of ADHD. They have affected my life and business.
I’ll share a few of those now.

1. Being awful with money. Am I an impulsive spender? Yes. Do I bury my head in the sand? Yes.

2. Lack of focus. Honestly, the struggle is real. I have some great processes in place to combat this so shit always gets done but sometimes it’s hard.
3. Hyper focus. I LOVE planning and will hyper focus on an exciting new thing for days, maybe weeks. Eventually I’ll get bored. Please see: my unfinished novel, Etsy store, three Shopify stores.
4. Social struggles. I love people. I love socialising but I really struggle to focus in social situations. The level of effort needed to actually listen to someone is huge. But I’m good at it now. However, prolonged social situations make me exhausted.
5. Disorganised. I hired an assistant to keep me sane and it was the best thing I ever did. Keeping track of everything in my business and life was a heckin’ STRUGGLE.
