NON-SPOILER Mando thoughts

The emerging pattern with Filoni's shows is that Season 1 will draw you in with a very new kind of story, while Season 2 laser-focuses on bringing in as many expansive connections to other Star Wars Things™ as they can fit in.
For some, the latter's devotion to that kind of fanservice is great. For others, not so much. I personally feel that Season 2 of Rebels was the nadir of an otherwise excellent show, and I find myself going back-and-forth on how I feel about that same approach in The Mandalorian.
When I think of Season 1 of Mando, I think of stuff like Kuiil repairing an assassin droid to become a carer. I think of an AT-ST that's framed as a fairy tale monster in the woods. I think of WERNER HERZOG in Star Wars.

Echoes of the familiar recontextualied into something new.
Season 2 has felt like more of a platform to launch spin-offs. There's still some of that flavour of Season 1 with stuff like Frog Lady, but the extent to which it squashes the universe down to connect to all these other things for their spin-offs feels... very Corporate.
It's not even that they do these things badly - I've LOVED a lot of Season 2. But if there's one thing it's made clear, it's that the Original Trilogy is a singularity - an inescapable maw - to be venerated For The Brand™ at the expense of truly committing to new stories.
It's enjoyable, it's really good fun, but it's also the safest possible direction that keeps Star Wars as this ouroboros of action figure fanservice.

I just don't think 'giving people exactly what they think they want' is a sustainable or interesting strategy.
Anyway, I found it was a decent finale with a really great ensemble that didn't really have an ounce of actual tension in it.

I am... whelmed.
