A few things I’ve learned by not drinking for 8 weeks...
1) Not attending any social events made this quite easy. There may never be an easier time to knock it on the head.
2) If you drink at the end of a long day to unwind a bit, you might need something else to fill that...

...gap. For me, non-alcoholic beer still felt like a bit of a treat in an odd way. It’s far cheaper too.
3) I was able to stick to my training program properly & my fitness has improved as a result. No lost days (or two days!) with a hangover.

4) No hangovers meant less craving for fast food / takeaways. Eating better helped me get the most from workouts & recover quicker.
5) Because of the consistency in training, my mental health has improved. I didn’t have a wobble before but I probably wasn’t far off.
6) The last two months have been my most productive in terms of work for the last couple of years. Coincidence? Who knows.
I know for a fact I’ll be having a drink over Christmas, and why not if I enjoy it?
Going into 2021 though, it’s obvious that if I want to feel good & perform well in work and the gym...booze needs to be kept to a minimum.
