So for tonight’s Yo La Tengo Hanukkah stream, I’m going to walk with 30 pounds of equipment the same distance as if from the Path to 11th Street, eat a meal as if from the Maxwell’s menu, and drink enough to say stupid shit to famous people.
So this hasn't shown up yet on my Vimeo purchases. Any ideas?
Got it going, doing the airdrop. Vimeo app isn’t set up for this.
So I counted from the site and I attended somewhere between 14 and 17 Yo La Tengo Hanukkah shows at Maxwell’s, 4 sort-of Hanukkah shows at Bell House, and 1 Hanukkah show at Bowery.
I have great affection for Amy Rigby, having seen her several times over the years. She’s also been extremely nice every time I’ve interacted with her. Just an all around terrific person.
No mixed CDs for charity I guess.
I’ve certainly said something stupid to Todd Barry by now.
I’ve definitely stinkeyed some chatting people by now.
I know this song. But I have to go out of the performance room, down a hallway past the coats and make another right to go to the bathroom.
I can literally smell Maxwell’s right now.
And now somebody just crunched a beer cup.
Finally coming up for air. Wow, this has been fantastic so far. Sounds great. I’ve recorded this band about three dozen times and this mix would make Mark proud.
Richard Hell, a Jewish songwriter.
Kind of miss Gil right now.
Weirdly this song reminds me most of Yo La Tengo playing a minor league baseball stadium in Brooklyn.
Don’t recall Autumn Sweater on a full/sized Baldwin grand piano at Maxwell’s.
Guest, but not sure who that is.
Garland Jeffreys?
So yeah that’s Ivan Julian and I should have known. Seen him several times in various bands.
I was hoping we’d see Eric, given that Any opened.
Ira’s mom is still with us, which is the best piece of information I’ve received this year. And now she’s making me cry.
And tonight I don’t have to break down any equipment and figure out how to get back to the Path, to wait 37 minutes for the next train. But oh those Maxwell’s memories are special.
