The Raiders are a case study in what not to do in a rebuild and the risk involved with moving on from a future HOF in the prime of his career. Even with an established QB to work with this whole time, LV appears set for mediocrity under the Gruden regime (cont.)
While yes, the offense is good as expected, the defense is a dumpster fire with no difference makers. This is what happens when you trade Khalil Mack and then use premium draft picks on high-character/floor prospects that are "safe" with little upside to replace him (cont.)
Don't even get me started on the cap space excuse for making the Mack trade. What would you rather spend $23M per year on: Khalil Mack or Carl Nassib, Cory Littleton, Tyrell Williams and Jason Witten? Cap space doesn't mean anything if you waste it on average players (cont.)
Sure, their situation could be far worse. With a bunch of overpaid/overdrafted players tanking one side of the ball and much of their core draft pick capital/cap space used up, however, what's the upside for this team now with 2 star QB's to go up against in their division??

The fact that LV signed Gruden to a 10 year contract and gave him a stake in ownership expecting anything but this result (which should have been obvious at the time) is nothing short of hilarious. Only 7 more years to go
