Email Marketing: The Numbers

Do you have an email list?

Here are 10 statistics that everyone with an email list NEEDS to know.

//THREAD//
1) The average welcome email open rate is 50%

This is a GREAT opportunity for:

>Getting people to know you
>Letting them know what to expect
>Selling product

This is your best email:

Use it.
2) In 2019, 293.6 billion emails were sent every day.

In 2021, it will be about 347.3 billion / day.

But yeah,

Email marketing is dead.
3) 21.33% is the average email open rate.

This isn’t hard to beat.

Keep track of which subject lines your audiences respond the most to.

Have a swipe file of your best performing subject lines (both yours and your industry’s)

Then send accordingly.
4) More than half of all email opens are on mobile.

Meaning:

If you're not optimizing your emails for mobile,

You're not optimizing emails for almost half your audience.
5) Sending 3 abandoned checkout emails results in 69% more orders than a single email.

This, along with the Welcome Sequence and the Post Purchase emails are three of the most powerful flows in ecom.

Must-haves for any store.
6) Adding video thumbnails to your emails can increase click rates by 300%.

This is not for everyone.

But if your audience likes video, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t use it.

I record myself and do interviews at times.

Not a coincidence these are my winners...
7) 49% of customers said they would like to receive a promotional email on a weekly basis.

Your customers are literally asking you to sell them.

Selling too much is a mistake,

But so is selling too little.
8) Emails with personalized subject lines get 50% more open rates.

Ever seen brands ask you for both your name and your email?

This isn’t random.

People have a psychological tendency to enjoy the sound of their name.

Know it and you’ll have an advantage.
9) Marketers with segmented campaigns make about 760% more revenue.

That’s almost 8 times as much.

Don’t blast your entire email list.

Instead, find people who want to hear from you.

Focus on them.

Profit.
10) The U.S. spent over 350 million dollars on email advertising in 2019.

Trust me,

There’s enough for all of us.
