My hot take today is that Cyberpunk 2077 is actually really enjoyable, and manages to accomplish a lot of things I haven't seen in other games. The jank is generally tolerable and the stuff I enjoy far outweighs the stuff I don't.
The writing is good enough that I actually feel urgently motivated to complete the main story AND to respond to all of my side quests. not because of any mechanical consequence, but because i care about the characters and the stakes
don't get me wrong, there are a LOT of things to complain about. the night city police 'system' in particular just doesn't work at any level (although i do actually love how crime scenes and shootouts are happening all around the city)
i guess I'm surprised how universally negative talk about CP2077 is when there are impressive and enjoyable things in it.
the game deserved another year of development, the team shouldn't have had to crunch, and the politics are.. flawed, but i dont feel i wasted my money

I've spent $60 on some absolute garbage videogames in the past, many of which i didn't end up playing more than once....
