One of the foundational books of Western Christendom is about how God didn't need Rome to work his will in the world. The story of medieval Europe is how the apocalypse happened, and the Church *got bigger.*
Christianity in the West is predicated on the idea that our world order can fail, and God will pick us up and build something glorious from the pieces.
Seek the good of the place God has put you in. Love your neighbor, honor your father and mother. Honor those God has placed in authority. There's a lot of good aruments for something like patriotism from the Bible.

All that to say, there's nothing wild or unorthodox in reminding people that the American portion of the Church is not the center of the universe. It can be done badly, but the point is not a bad one.
