I have a story.
My kid has a decent job out of college. She makes about 55K a year. But she wants to go to law school and be a lawyer, so she started to study for the LSAT in February.
COVID hit & her company had her work from home. Which is great, but she was still busy working from home, and she ended up having to be available all the time. So she was studying for LSAT and working hard.
A friend of hers was furloughed at the start of COVID. She was making almost the same as my daughter with unemployment, and she was also studying for the LSAT full time. So my daughter was resentful. So in the discussion I mentioned this is why socialism fails.
No one wants to be a producer if they can get things free. So the government has to force you. There is absolutely no incentive to create everything. (i.e. look at China having to steal intellectual property because there is not incentive to create)
Socialism sounds good on it's face. Ultimately it will always fail. So don't buy into the "We'll do it better" crap. We can already see in the programs they promulgate, they won't do it better.
