With the Pentagon cutting off transition planning with the Biden team after the SolarWinds attack I think I know what might be happening. This is just a theory and I could definitely be wrong but it wraps up a couple issues from years past.
BLUF: I think that the SolarWinds exploit was not only known but actually implemented to give powerful people access to sensitive government information. These people are probably former government officials but anyone could have been given access to it. It may be one of many.
One reason I think this is that when Wikileaks started dropping emails prior to the 2016 election, one thing that stuck out to me and probably a lot of other people were the emails of Sidney Blumenthal. They read a lot like intelligence reporting. It would make sense that...
...if he had access to such a system, that he would either take reports and remove the portion markings or write new reports based on other data and leave the portion markings off. There are a lot of emails from him and this was even speculated about back then.
As a reminder, Sidney Blumenthals emails were exposed by the Guccifer hack. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guccifer#Computer_hacking_activities
Now, when the FBI went in to investigate all this, they either didn't notice this or they covered it up. My mantra on this agency is that they are in the power protection business, not the justice business, so I wouldn't be surprised if they found that this was going on and...
...just decided that it affected too many powerful people to shut down so they looked the other way. So when the the SolarWinds node was compromised by who ever did it, not only was the access exposed but who had access to it. This might mean that some of the people on the...
Biden transition team were found by CISA to have had access and they are stopping any further integration until they have more data. Even if the Pentagon stopping the integration is a non-story, the SolarWinds exploit is. Anyone that cares about keeping hackers and...
adversaries from having access to our nations secrets should care about this.
