- There are other web analytics tools out there besides GA. Some enable cookie-less tracking which means no need for cookie banners
- GitHub can say no to web analytics cos of the incredible mindshare they have w/devs
- You can use analytics w/o cookie bloat

The answer for every company isn't "don't use web analytics" IMO. Again, GitHub can afford not to have web analytics because they're GitHub. They're widely known.
The answer is to educate small business, marketers, and developers on web analytics so they know their options.
