Long thread—grab a coffee: There is a concerted effort from @AgudahNews and paid shills, Twitter machers, and random rabble-rousers to shape the narrative of COVID in the Haredi Jewish community. They are ostensibly countering antisemitism
or otherwise ensuring the community isn’t being singled out, but I and many others are calling their bluff. We know what is happening in our own (in my case, former) communities.

They have been at it for years but upped their game when @yaffedorg gained traction in the media. They will gang up on anyone who dares to offend the party line, but especially those within the community who speak out.

In fact, in a correspondence with one of their top members in 2018, he admitted that the education in Hasidic yeshivas is virtually nonexistent. But “the happiness of the families I see when I am in Borough Park or Williamsburg leads me to a tentative conclusion that the
vast majority of those in insular communities have no problem subscribing to the expectations of them.” (Well, duh, they’re called “expectations” for a reason.) And when I presented said member with the reality that the average person would like more freedoms and better education
for their children, he responded with a version of “let them eat cake”: “Let them stop typing and start moving, if they really believe that they are living in a repressive and harmful society.”
To journalists and politicians reading this: please recognize their tactics. Please know that while the rise in antisemitism is a huge problem that has ripple effects for EVERY Jew in America and beyond, reporting the truth and/or advocating for better education
and legislation to help victims of abuse is NOT biased and certainly NOT antisemitism! Do not cower, and do not be silenced by their irreligious and amoral lies.
