Growing means having to let go of habits, people, outdated thinking and rewiring our belief systems. What that also means however is that with growth comes loss, and with loss comes grief.
Sometimes what we knew as normal was really dysfunction, but we created a world where that dysfunction kept us safe and we even created bonds in the midst of bad habits.
It is why we sometimes find ourselves going back. Because what’s familiar sometimes feels safer than trying something new. Even if what’s familiar isn’t healthy for us. And this is why letting go isn’t always the easiest task, despite it being what’s necessary.
So let us normalize the grief, the sadness, and the loneliness that comes with awakening. Stepping into ourselves will sometimes requires us to step away from all that we knew in order to cultivate joy.
