Small retailers, read this: More than 400 COVID-19 cases at Amazon warehouses in Ontario amid concern over industrial spread of virus https://nationalpost.com/news/more-than-400-covid-19-cases-at-amazon-warehouses-in-ontario-amid-concern-about-industrial-spread-of-virus
This makes me very angry. It appears we are shutting down the wrong end of retail. We are closing small retailers with no/little evidence of COVID spread and pushing people to use Amazon, resulting in hundreds of employees becoming infected & spreading to the community.
It seems like Ontario's COVID retail restrictions are making the problem worse. We are closing quiet small retailers with loads of room for physical distancing while pushing customers to giant lines at Walmart/Costco & pushing more volume to Amazon where workers are infected.
Mayor @patrickbrownont said his city has not had a single case tied to restaurants either.
Regarding COVID spread among big box/online vs. small retailers, another mayor who reviewed the data said that we are correctly sending out an ambulance, but we are sending it to the wrong address.
So perhaps later today we'll see the Ontario government lockdown Amazon for 4 weeks.
