Is Garcia Pimienta a good coach and is he fit to manage Barca's first team? A thread:
As we can see here, Garcia Plays a 4-3-3 with a single pivot and attacking full backs. Very similar to Pep Guardiola's formation at FC Barcelona.
From the matches I saw, Garcia Pimienta uses the renowned Tiki-Taka style, a iconic Barca tactic from when Pep used it.
The Barcelona B team presses the opposition from their own half, forcing mistakes and winning the ball.
He uses a hyper offensive team with only the cbs staying in their half. The pivot stays a little backwards as well.
Here all the opposition players are marking the forwards, so the wing back makes a run so that the midfielder can put a lofted through ball into his path.
Another example of how important the full backs are.
At Barca we have 1 hyper offensive full back in Alba and 1 full back with insane workrates in Sergino Dest. I think they have the pace to make runs behind the opposition defense.
If Garcia Pimienta is the coach, his possible lineup would be
MATS
alba araujo/pique lenglet/umtiti/mingueza dest
alena/fdj/pjanic
puig/fdj pedri
dembele new striker Messi
Or he could use a Messi as a no 10 and put dembele on rw and fati on the LW.
If Messi plays, on rw, I can see him playing more as a no 10 anyways, Messi doesnt have the pace to be a rw anymore. He would probably drop deep take the ball, dribble past a few players and create chances. Messi doesnt really fit in this formation imo.
Imo Garcia can do a decent job, but idk about the role of Messi in the team.
