I hate the fallacy of "PS4 and XBONE are outdated" concerning the Cyberpunk fiasco.

I know people have a short memory these days, but multiplats coming out during a new generation isn't something new. Hell, Zelda BotW came on the WiiU and Switch at the same time!
You know the major difference? BotW was developed for the WiiU, then enhanced for the Switch. Same with all those yearly sports games. There's no magic here that's been the formula for years.
You work on the weakest machine you plan to release your game on. Once it's stable, you can work on the new gen versions. If you try to always work with the top of the line in mind, pushing your limit, you end up with a Vaporware or a glitch fest.
Cyberpunk has been in development long before the new gen was even a rumor. Someone must've had the idea to switch development with the new consoles in mind (my guess is around the first delay)

That was the first mistake.
If I'm right, it means that midway through development they switch to unfamiliar hardware to develop on. We already know that at that point that management decided to ignore the PS4 and XBOne. And here we are.
Icarus flying too close to the sun is an appropriate reference here. We have a game that is broken on going consoles, is somewhat still unstable on new gen and is even struggling on many PCs. Game has been pulled from the PS Store as of yesterday.
Lessons have to be learned. First of all, game industry workers need better protection from their managers. Poor management gave us this broken game. The workers were put through periods of crunch to meet a mandatory release date that didn't need to be.
Also, enough with the hype trains! Announcing a game closer to release date instead of creating some artificial hype. You gotta give that to Rockstar, they usually announce their game after having a solid build. They still do crunch, so not too much credit though.
As for the original subject, I'm guessing the game was planned for going consoles, switched to next gen after the announcement and downgraded, which is ass backward. The new gen barely came out and was only rumored a year ago.
Development should've been finished by optimizing on the old consoles. I'm sure these consoles can handle a slightly less polished version of the game, plus being a third party, multiplatform game meant developing blind on the new consoles.
Time will tell what future Cyberpunk has. I have my PS4 physical copy sitting on a shelf while I clear some of my backlog. As I planned since I knew I didn't have enough free space on my PS4's HDD.

Hopefully by then the game is stable and less buggy.
And if it's still not? Hell, maybe I'll have a PS5 by then. Or not. We'll see.

But enjoy whatever game you're playing right now! 😁
