New @CitizensAdvice research shows a 91% year-on-year increase in No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) issues since the pandemic began.

With many now facing rent arrears and eviction, people with NRPF urgently need access to social security (1/2)
It’s striking to me that 4 in 5 people we’ve helped with NRPF since March have been from a BAME background.

As an immigration caseworker at @TUPLDN, I noticed that most people I worked with were black women. This is clearly a law that’s hitting BAME people hardest (2/2)
Some context - almost 1.4 million people have NRPF attached to their leave to remain. It means they’re not entitled to most welfare benefits, including Universal Credit, Child Benefit and Council Tax Reduction.
